Purpose of Post – in partnership with Cadw, coordinate activity in the Northwest Wales World Heritage Sites (WHS) which include the Castles and Walled Towns of King Edward 1 in Gwynedd and the Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales, to enable the Sites to effectively meet their commitments to UNESCO, local communities, organisations and businesses.

Job type/Hours: Temporary three years | 37 Hours

Salary: £32,909 – £34,723 a year

Location: Gwynedd Council, Caernarfon

The main duties of the post include:

Governance

Work closely with the Chair(s) of the Partnership Steering Groups to ensure that governance is of the highest standards

Act as the chief coordinating officer to the Partnership Steering Groups, and ensure they have the information necessary to enable them to support the management of the Sites

Support the Partnership Steering Groups and associated sub-groups on the direction and development of the World Heritage Site, including providing the secretariat function for all groups

Strategy

Work with the Partnership Steering Groups, Cyngor Gwynedd and Cadw (Welsh Government) staff, partners and local communities to implement and monitor the Property Management Plans as submitted to UNESCO.

Coordinate the development and implementation of Site-wide specific activity strategies, including Marketing, Learning and Community Engagement.

Promote the WHS Management Plan vision and values with partner authorities and stakeholders

Management

Work with the Partnership Steering Groups, Cyngor Gwynedd and Cadw (Welsh Government) staff in addition to funding partners to coordinate the deliver the Property Management Plans and activity strategies

Co-ordinate a conservation and Maintenance programme for the WHSs in partnership with the Conservation Groups

Coordinate responses to planning issues which could affect the Outstanding Universal Value of the WHSs on behalf of the Conservation Groups and/or Partnership Steering Groups

Business development and networks

Represent the WHSs with Partners, Government Departments, Local Authorities and Statutory Agencies

Consult with UNESCO and International Council for Monuments and Sites (UK) on relevant matters relating to the World Heritage Sites

Actively seek new and relevant partnerships to develop the Partnership Steering Groups’ programme of activities

Programme Delivery

Ensure that partners understand their responsibilities and support them in delivering the required outputs and outcomes

Contribute to the delivery of individual partner’s projects which pursue the Management Plans aims

Provide an effective monitoring regime for the WHSs team

Fundraising and income development

Explore potential sources of ongoing and additional funding relevant to area of work and support the preparation of funding bids

Monitor funding programmes to fit with partnership priorities and funders’ criteria

Communications

Manage the relationships with all stakeholders and funders

Contribute to increasing awareness locally, regionally, nationally and internationally

Oversee development of the WHS’s brand, marketing and communications and be the key point of con-tact for WHS enquiries and use of brand / logos etc

Ensure partners and stakeholders are informed of activities relating to the WHS, through communications work identified in the communication strategy

Marketing

Co-ordinate the contribution of partners and stakeholders to create a cohesive approach to creating and marketing the WHS and its visitor offer

Oversee the development and upkeep of all online/digital marketing assets Co-ordinate key marketing messages with the Tourism, Marketing and Events Service and other relevant partners and stakeholders
