Vacancy – Bath World Heritage Sites Advisory Board Chair
March 14, 2024
Voluntary position, expenses paid, 3-year term (potentially extendable), expected time commitment minimum 4 days per month.
The City of Bath is twice inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and must manage conservation of the outstanding heritage alongside the needs of a vibrant modern city. Bath & North East Somerset Council (B&NES) are seeking an exceptional person to be at the forefront of this challenge.
UNESCO World Heritage is managed through an Advisory Board, a round-table bringing together 30 representatives from 21 organisations. The Board is convened and supported by B&NES Council, but chaired independently. This high-level prominent role requires the ability to achieve consensus, champion Bath’s heritage and deliver the actions of a 6-year management plan (currently under review). Whilst knowledge of the city and strategic heritage management are important, personal qualities will be paramount in making a real difference in this exciting and rewarding role.
